MELISSA JEAN NELSON Tragically on March 10, 2006, Melissa Nelson passed away in Varadero, Cuba at the young age of 21. It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and aunt. Melissa was born December 27, 1984 at Winnipeg, MB, raised on the Roseau River First Nation and in Winnipeg, MB. Melissa leaves behind many family members who loved her. Melissa was survived by her two mothers, Barbara Nelson and adoptive mom Debra Govereau; three sisters, Vicki Nelson, Betty-Lynn Govereau (Doug), Rachel Govereau/Roberts (Gaevin); two brothers Sonny and Cornell Nelson; her beloved dad Andrew Hall; her uncle John Govereau who named our precious daughter; Todd her beloved nephew who she took under her wing; Michael her nephew; Alexandria and Chantel her closest nieces; Crystal and Lorraine her cousins and also Floyd Flett from Peguis, MB. Melissa leaves behind many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. We have lost a beautiful loving, caring, gentle daughter, who touched many lives in her short time with us. Besides her academics she was an avid reader on everything that was educational. She loved being active, skydiving, skiing, hiking and enjoyed the sport of martial arts, in which she held a black belt. Once a week, she made time for nephew Todd whom she loved dearly. Melissa held two jobs, went to school and volunteered. Her aim was to go into the R.C.M.P. Melissa accomplished so much in 21 years, she had so much more that she wanted to do. She always aimed for the sky and she had so much potential. Melissa's family, friends were very important to her. They stuck with her during the good times, bad, sad and hard times. Her memory will remain strong in the hearts and minds of all whose lives she touched. Barbara and Debbie would like to thank all their friends, neighbours, family and uncle, Chief Terrance Nelson. A special thanks to the Assembly of First Nations for their support, Peguis First nation; and all those involved in bringing our daughter home. A traditional wake and funeral will take place at Roseau River First Nation Friday, March 17, 2006 at the community hall; funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 12:00 noon also from the Hall with interment to follow at the Roseau River First Nation Cemetery. May our creator bless you and keep you safe. Rest in peace daughter until we meet again. ABORIGINAL FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-7700
