Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFFORD EVERETT SMELTZER After a short illness Clifford Everett Smeltzer, age 85, passed away at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Cliff was predeceased by his wife, Vera Katheleen (Seaker); his parents, Charles and Eva Smeltzer; brother, Alvin Smeltzer; and sister, Alma Stender. Cliff is survived by his children, Linda (Terry) Bailey of Carberry, MB, Jim of Vancouver, BC, Doug (Barb) of Saskatoon, SK and David of Winnipeg, MB. He is also survived by grandchildren, Paul (Crystal) Bailey, Kinzie Bailey (Andy), Michael (Candace) St. Onge and Kyle Smeltzer; great-grandchild, Joshua St. Onge; brother, Lloyd (Joyce) Smeltzer; and sisters, Doris (Harold) Sedore and Jean (Leslie) Van Sickle. Cliff was born in Regina, SK on January 11, 1921. He served with the Canadian Army during The Second World War and enlisted with the RCAF following the war. He served with the Tactical Air Command Band in Edmonton and Winnipeg until his retirement in 1970. After his retirement he continued his music career teaching private students, Band in the Assiniboia St. James School Division, playing and teaching with the Assiniboia Concert Band and adjudicating at Band festivals. In 1979 Cliff and Vera moved back to their hometown of Regina. After Vera's death Cliff moved to Saskatoon to be closer to his son's family and resided there until his death. Cremation has taken place and at Cliff's request no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
