LAWRENCE HAROLD SETTEE Peacefully on March 16, 2006, at the Concordia Hospital, our father and grandfather, Lawrence Harold Settee, entered into the presence of the Lord and was reunited with his beloved wife Dorothy and precious granddaughter Ashley. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his 6 children and grandchildren; Jeanette (Allen), Leona, her children Scott and Lee, her grandson Jayden; Dan, his daughters Suzanne and her son Kieran, and Natasha; Jim, his children Michael and his children Michael Jr., Jacob and Cienna, Ambrose (Jenna and her son Pheonix), Melanie and Adam; Cathy (Craig) and her children Krystle (Larry) and Daniel (Melissa); Charley and his children Craig and Kevin; also Dad's last remaining sister Florence Wortman; his numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born on May 1, 1922 at The Narrows, across from Matheson Island. He was the tenth (and third youngest) child of Elizabeth and Charles Settee. Dad grew up at Matheson Island and became a fisherman, just as his father and brothers did. He met the love of his life Dorothy at a fish camp at Catfish Creek and was married on August 7, 1952. They moved to Winnipeg and had six children. Dad worked for Manitoba Hydro for 30 years. He was the pastor of the Indian and Metis Pentecostal Church on Main Street for many years. Mom worked diligently alongside him making an impact on so many lives. Dad also had a program on Channel 11 for five years called A Step of Faith , which touched many people. Dad fixed up a place at Matheson Island for Mom and him. We all spent many happy times out there with them. That's where Dad wanted to go as soon as he got out of the hospital. Dad worked hard all his life. He was steadfast and true in his marriage, to his children and to his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Dad was a loving and giving person who would help anyone who asked. He had his own sense of humour and loved to play little tricks on us, teasing and having a good laugh. We, as his children and grandchildren, feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful father and grandfather. We grew more close to him in the past two years and will miss him deeply. We thank him for his great love and the legacy he has left us. We know he is with Mom and Ashley and with his Lord and we lovingly release him. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church, 641 St. Matthew's Ave., Winnipeg, MB. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 22 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Steven's Memorial United Church, Fisher River, MB, with Rev. John Halcrow and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Fisher River Community Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to: ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Ashern, Manitoba 1-866-293-4951
