She was predeceased by her loving husband John William (Bill) in 1968, also two of her sisters Mary and Nell of Northampton, England. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Sharon and Barbara; son-in-law Douglas Knights, grandchildren Marion (Mark), Tracy (Trevor), John (Lisa), great-grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Chelsea, Kurtis, Samantha, and Vincent; her sister Joyce of Northampton, England, and sisters-in-law Frances Minch and Winnifred Perron of Winnipeg; also numerous nieces and nephews both in England and Canada. Mom was born in Northampton, England, July 21, 1920, where she grew up with her three sisters. She took typing and shorthand in school and became an excellent typist. During The Second World War, she worked in a munitions factory as a secretary. It was at this time that she met a Canadian soldier and at the end of the war she married Dad, in 1945. Mom arrived in Canada as a war bride in 1946 and settled in Fort Rouge for a number of years. Mom worked at the Corps of Commissionaires during this time. In 1958, the family moved to Transcona where Mom made many good friends over the years. At this time she was working as a secretary for a law firm. In 1968, Dad passed away. Mom's strength and courage kept us going. Shortly after that she went to work with the R.C.M.P. Public Service until her retirement. She had many fond memories of the people and her time there. Mom took great pride in her family. She was delighted with the arrival of her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren. She took great pride in their interests and accomplishments. Mom enjoyed being with people, she loved to chat about good old England and listen to other people's stories. She was compassionate, caring, and concerned about everyone she met. She touched many people's lives and we will all miss her. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
