Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. WILLIAM M. LYLE 1913 2006 Passed away, peacefully, at his home in Kitchener, on Friday, March 17, 2006 at the age of 92. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 50 years, Lorena; his children Lesley and Tim, Joan and Cesar, and Barb; his grandchildren Bruce and Amy, Lesley-Ann and Derek, Laura, Lauren and Kaitlyn; and his great-grandchildren Kiera and Rogan. He will also be missed by Adrienne and Jim, Phyllis, Dorothy, Alice and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Helen, brother Ralph and his wife Thelma. Born in P.E.I., raised in Prince Albert, Ontario, Dad graduated in 1938 from Optometry. He spent nearly 20 years practicing Optometry in Winnipeg. In 1942, he entered the Canadian Army, and was honourably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Captain. In 1965 he became the first Canadian to complete his Ph.D. in Physiological Optics, then returned to teach at the College of Optometry in Toronto. In 1967, he became one of the first five faculty members of the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. Dad enjoyed travel, photography and good friends. His undefeatable sense of humour buoyed us all to the end. Cremation has taken place. Please join us in celebrating the life of Bill Lyle at Faith Missionary Church, 3849 King St. E., Kitchener, on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in his name.
