JULIEN BUORS (SKYE) August 24, 1932 - March 17, 2006 Julien passed peacefully into God's hands on March 17, 2006 at the Stonewall Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) surrounded by the love and care of his family. We sadly mourn his loss but celebrate his very productive life. He faced his illness with immense dignity and courage. He was the classic patriarch and the family's constant source of strength and an excellent provider. His profound love for them and self-sacrifices for their betterment was a testament of his deep affection, he led his life with a sincere and genuine heart. Julien was born in St. Laurent, MB - his teenage years were spent commercial fishing on Lake Manitoba with his Dad and brothers. In 1953 he enlisted in the Canadian Guards, later transferred to the Ordnance Corp for a term of five years of service, upon his release from the military he worked in the construction industry, taking evening courses at M.I.T. learning the autobody and frame repair trade, after a few years of working for various employers, he opened his own business; as owner and operator he worked hard and long hours with much needed rest. Dad always had a special interest in the automotive industry of which he made both a career and a hobby. His entrepreneurship abilities and perseverance lead him into becoming a capable and successful business person. Retirement afforded him the time to pursue what he loved best, if any of us needed Dad, we knew we could find him at home in the garage, busy with a new project. Dad was a spiritual and caring person with simple values and expectations, it gives us great comfort in knowing that God has gently called him home and he has now been given the answers to all of life's mysteries. Julien was predeceased by his parents Jules and Emma; brother Gilbert; brother Emile in infancy; son-in-law Gerard Ducharme; brothers-in-law, Hubert Laurin, James Ducharme, Roy Champagne; sister-in-law Violet Champagne and nephew Kevin Buors. Remaining to forever cherish Julien's memory are his wife, Therese with whom he shared 55 years of marriage; his six children, Yvonne (Douglas) Bruce, Gerald (Mona) Buors, Gisele Ducharme (Gary), Yvette Buors, Raymond (Laura) Buors, Jules Buors (Kim); 11 grandchildren, Kim (Bobbie), Kelly (Dwain), Desiree (Shawn), Jason, Douglas (Ashley), Rachelle (Gerald), Amber, Christine, Jaclyn (Kevin), Nicole, Raymond Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Laine, Emmitt and Travis. He is survived by eight brothers and five sisters, Armand (Aline), Florence F.M.M., Diana, Denis (Georgette), Benoit (Marlene), Donald (Gisele), Joseph (Roberta), Lorna (Steve), Viviane (Emile), Albert (Marguita), Edmond (Karen), Edouard (Barbara), Marie (Andre); brother-in-law George (Greta); sisters-in-law, Bernadette and Emma and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. On behalf of our family, we wish to express heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Selkirk General Hospital and Stonewall Hospital for their outstanding care of Dad for the past months with great comfort and compassion and with utmost respect and thoughtfulness towards the family. Also, to all the homecare workers who assisted with care beforehand. In lieu of flowers, donations to Palliative Care Unit at Stonewall Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Gerald Langevin will officiate. Interment will take place at Stony Mountain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his eight brothers. Eulogy delivered by Julien's closest and longtime friend, Paul Johnston. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
