ORPHA ORLEAN YANKOSKI Orpha Yankoski of Russell, MB passed away on March 18, 2006 at the Russell District Health Centre at the age of 82 years. Orpha was born November 30, 1923 in Suffield, AB. She obtained her Registered Nurse's degree in Yorkton, SK. She nursed in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Minnedosa, Manitoba and the Sacred Heart Hospital, Russell, MB with her life long friend Marg (Dunn) Hadlin. Orpha met Stanley at the Russell Fair and in 1950 they married and settled in Russell where she worked at the local hospital and then worked for Dr. Lange and Dr. Lu as their nurse for 25 years. She was a Chartered Member of the C.W.L. at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Russell acting as President and Secretary-Treasurer and also volunteered many years as Sacristan. Besides her hobbies of reading, knitting and crafts, Orpha and Stan enjoyed traveling and meeting many wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her parents, 9 brothers, and her sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Joseph, her brother Jim McCallum of Medicine Hat, Alberta, nephew Glenn (Carolyn) Irwin of Redcliff, AB; niece, Myrna (Kent) Owens of Medicine Hat, AB, brothers-in-law Ted of Russell and Murray of Victoria, BC, other nieces and nephews and many friends. Prayers will be said Wednesday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Russell. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Russell with Father Dominic Yuen officiating. Interment to follow in Russell Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff at the Russell District Personal Care Home, the Russell Health Centre, Sisters of St. Benedict and Father Dominic for all their care during Orpha's illness.
