Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) LECKIE JAMIESON Smiling Jack' as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, has completed his life's journey and has gone to his final rest on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Jack's legacy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Christine; three children, John Jamieson of London, England, Susan Gusthart (Garth) of Saskatoon, SK, and Scott Jamieson (Norma) of Beaumont, AB; grandchildren, Jupiter Jamieson, Seth and Tori Gusthart and Sean, Courtney and Riley Jamieson. Born in Carlyle, SK on January 4, 1925, he remained there until he enlisted in the Royal Air Force as a wireless air gunner on January 4, 1943. He served his country with honour while engaging in two tours of operation with 625 Squadron until his honourable discharge from service on February 28, 1946. In 1945, as a handsome young officer he met and married Christine Hill who would become his lifelong companion. Together they shared the wonders of life for 60 years, creating memories that will surpass time. He worked for Canadian Pacific Railway, beginning his 35-year career as an operator on May 23, 1947 and became a dispatcher who was respected by all who worked with him on June 18, 1951. Jack was a very giving person who gave of himself to help others when needed. This attribute is personified in his being a Master Mason and involved for a period of time with the Shriners. Of course, we must mention his love of golf and playing for nickels. This enjoyment was cherished and embraced by his very close friend Bert Johnson. Dad was very touched and proud of his special daughter' Heather Barbour who provided endless hours of support, compassion and friendship. Jack was also a proud grandfather who always took a vested interest in his grand-children and always had a smile or a word of encouragement for them. On Wednesday, March 22, there will be a celebration of Jack's life at his home between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Remember to bring your happiest memories to share. In accordance with Jack's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2R7, or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and where there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
