WANDA (WINNIE) BILAN (nee POPP) Peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Selkirk Hospital, aged 88 years. Wanda leaves to mourn daughter Irene (Don) Klassen of Vancouver, BC, daughter Estelle Gibbons and grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) and Matthew (Tiffany). Wanda was born July 23, 1917 in St. Andrews. In 1939 she married William (Bill) Bilan and they operated a mixed farm and market garden in Rossdale. Wanda was predeceased by Bill in 1995 and continued to live on the family farm until her passing. A tiny lady, Wanda was a hard-working farm wife with amazing strength. She was always happy when surrounded by her grandchildren, her pussycats and any kind of sweet or chocolate. She always made sure that everyone was well-fed and her perogies were the absolute best. She was Baba to everyone and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. An informal service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk on Friday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church parish cemetery in Rossdale. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gibbons, Buddy Popp, Walter Skazyk and Richard Donnelly. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
