BERTIE MAYNE Peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2006, Bertie Mayne, aged 86 years, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Bertie was predeceased by his wife Jean on June 27, 1987. He is survived by his sons, Bob (Marie), Bill (Dorothea) and Ted (Joan); daughter Trudy (Bud) Quint; grandchildren Robert (Linda), Vicki (Mark), Amber, Lindsey, Elizabeth and Alexandra Quint. Bertie married Jean on July 31, 1943 at Old St. Andrew's Church. Bertie served with the RAF from 1939 to 1945. He worked for CN in the Transcona shops until his retirement in April 1984. He enjoyed gardening and fishing in the off hours and spent many years accompanying Jean to softball games and tournaments. Bertie was a coach for the Youth Bowling Council for over 40 years. His passion was the kids he taught. He would spend endless hours in the bowling alleys from September to the end of April teaching his students. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 24 at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg MB R3C 2B7.
