Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) PODOLSKY It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Bill, our dear father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Gimli Hospital at the age of 72. Bill leaves to mourn his wife Ellen; six children, Sharon (John) Frampton, Barbara (Fred) Landry, Robert Podolsky, Brenda (Anselmo) Torcia, Randy (Lisa) Podolsky, Candace (Cliff) Lamirande; grandchildren Chris Amanda and Joshua Frampton, Keith and Kathryn Landry, Laura, Amy, Brad and Robert Jr. Podolsky, Justin, Thomas, Anselmo Jr., and Abreanna Torcia, Cole and Ashlee Podolsky, Chancellor and Cassidy Lamirande; sister Elsie Karl and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and Nykola; sister Janice and her husband Peter Friesen. Bill was born at Vita, MB on March 6, 1934 and grew up in Vita, attended Shewchenko School and at an early age of 17 joined the R.C.A.F. where he was stationed in Camp Borden, Barrie, ON. In 1956 he married Ellen Boychuk and settled in Vancouver, BC where he worked for CN Railways, before returning to Winnipeg with his family to start his own flooring contracting business. He was one of the best in his trade and along with his crew was responsible for the floor installation in many of our Winnipeg hospitals, schools, Safeway stores and senior citizen complexes and he passed this trade on to his sons. His hobbies included old cars, coin and stamp collecting and telling stories to his children about the old times growing up in Vita. He enjoyed dancing to western music and won jive contests with his partner Ellen. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he liked to teach them to polka at an early age. Bill spent his retirement in Winnipeg Beach and truly enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden and visiting with his children. He was a fun loving person and he kept his humour about him to the very end. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 23 at 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. also at the chapel. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Keith, Justin, Thomas, Anselmo Jr., Brad and Robert Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. Now's the time to say goodbye To our father, husband, gido and brother As his family we wouldn't want no other We had a lot of good times in the past But we all know that they don't last Our memories that we hold on to for years May sometimes bring us to tears We hold a big place in our hearts for you And this will always remain true. You will be sadly missed by family and friends everywhere And going so suddenly they couldn't all be there We know you are going to a better place up there But who ever thinks that death is fair. We know that peace is finally what you received And at the end, love and forgiveness is what you achieved. We all want you to know how much we love you And in our hearts you'll always remain true.
