Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JAMES SHARMAN 1925 - 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Donald James Sharman on March 19, 2006. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife Lillian of 57 years; daughters, Beverly (Richard Pudwell) and Donalda Marsiglio; and four ever so special grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Cara and Jamie. Also surviving is sister-in-law Margaret Thomson, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt. He was predeceased by brother Ted; baby sister Margaret; as well as his parents; sister-in-law Dorothy James; brothers-in-law, Tom James, Frank Thomson and Tom Phizacklea. Don was born in the Bradwardine district, the second son of Annie and Charles Sharman. He received his education in Bradwardine and Oak River. In June of 1946 he began a 38.5 year career with Manitoba Hydro. He participated in the Rural Electrification program and transferred to District Operations in 1948 residing in Killarney, Alexander, Rivers and Brandon. He transferred to Head Office in Winnipeg in 1962 where he worked in various positions and when he retired in 1984, he worked as an Administrative Assistant to Executive Vice President, as well as Secretary to the Board. Following his move to Winnipeg he received his Professional Manager and Certified Industrial Manager designation through evening classes at University. He also achieved his Able Toastmaster designation while serving as a charter member of the Manitoba Hydro Toastmasters Club. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose enduring legacy to his family and all who knew him is the gift of laughter, courage and perseverance. He was very devoted to his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren who thought so much of him. He had a heart of gold and would do most anything for anyone, all you had to do was ask and his response would always be, no problem. Some of his hobbies were reading, curling, dancing, camping, traveling and visiting friends and relatives. He was a member of the Pembina Curling Club and a life member of the Kinsmen Rehfit Centre. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and be remembered for his personality and concern for others. Our lives have been enriched by Don and we will carry his love with us always. He was the steadfast rock we leaned on. He spent the last three years in the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg which was his home away from home and we would like to thank everyone, especially those who cared for him on the 2nd floor. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
