HELENE LOUISE GENDRON (née LAPLUME) A fiery wit, love of humour and a heart large enough to care for the whole world; this is how we will remember our dear Hélène. After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, Hélène was released from this world with her family by her side. She was 60 years old. Mom cherished life's simple pleasures. A sunny day, a nice cup of coffee, good conversation, even an invigorating shower - these seemingly insignificant moments brought to her pure contentment. We will treasure memories of her relaxing on her swing, spending countless summers at Blue Lake and doting over her two granddaughters. A truly selfless person, Hélène was quick to set aside her needs for her family and friends, even during her last days. The love between Hélène and her husband Adélard was deep and abiding. She often remarked how lucky she was to have such a fine husband, and he would respond in kind. Their 40 year relationship was a testament to true devotion between two people. Her legacy will be her children and grandchildren; she had so much love to give and was always happiest with her family. She is survived by her soul mate Adélard; daughters, Lise (Gord), Lorraine (Glen), Lynne (Dean) and Simone (Cristien); son Jacques; granddaughters, Jenna and Sophie; her father Henri, her sister Louise (Armand); brothers, Denis (Monique) and Jean (Pauline); and many other dear relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving mother Thérèse. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Bernadette Parish (820 Cottonwood Rd.) on Friday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in memory of Hélène Gendron be made to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation (Palliative Care), 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Do not despair when winter comes; where last year's flower lays withered, one hundred more will bloom. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
