NICHOLAS BASAROWICH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Nicholas Basarowich, peacefully at home on March 20, 2006 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Michael, brother Joe and two sons, Allan and Eric. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving children, Victor (Christine), Diane (Richard), David (Kimberly), Douglas, Cindy (Roger), Cherry (Derek), daughter-in-law Michelle (Russell) and their mother Helene. He will be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother Anthony (friend Rose); sister Evelyn (Eugene); and many nieces and nephews. Nick was born in Elma, MB on July 14, 1929. He worked for Winnipeg Beef and then for the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation until he retired. Nick most enjoyed his family gatherings where he would serve his famous Holubchi and he enjoyed the special times spent at his trailer at Chestley's. He will always be remembered for his kindness, helpful nature and sense of humour. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Donations may be made in Nick's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
