Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK ISSAC PHELPS Peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, Jack Phelps at the age of 85 years, passed away at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB. Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Henry, Charlie, Lloyd, Joe and sister Maude. Left to remember Jack is his loving wife Gwen of 56 years, sons, Gary (friend Donna), Ron (Kathy), grandchildren, Trevor, Chandra (Tim), Stephanie, and Carly. Jack joined the Army in 1939 with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons from 1939 - 1945. After returning home Jack took up the trade of a watchmaker and worked at McGeachie and Holdsworth for 33 years. Jack was president of the Charleswood Legion No. 100 in 1969/1970 and turned the first sod over for the new legion as it is today. In 1980 Jack and Gwen retired and moved to their paradise in Arnes, MB. Their three acres had a house, garage and little red barn all of which Jack built. He enjoyed the simple things in life like reading, playing cards, darts, gardening, the love of his dogs, and most of all, his home. People who knew Jack will remember him as a man that took pride in everything he did and was always there to lend a hand when needed. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk, for the exemplary care they took of Jack in the five months he was a resident there. At Jacks request there will be a small grave side service at the Gimli Community Cemetery, Friday, March 24, 12 Noon. (Today). Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
