JACK MURRAY SHORE June 6, 1922 - March 17, 2006 On Friday, March 17, 2006, Jack Shore, beloved husband of Malke Shore, passed away peacefully at the Lion's Personal Care Centre surrounded by his family and friends. Jack was born in Winnipeg and was raised in Canora, SK. He joined the army in 1941 and in 1944 he returned and went into business with his father. Jack married Malke Katz in 1951 and they celebrated their 55th anniversary this year. They moved to Tisdale, SK in 1955 where he became a vital member of the community, and a charter member of the Kinsmen Club. In 1970, he moved to Winnipeg with his family and again was in business as the owner of Maljac Fashions and later, a senior member of the staff of Wilfred's Tuxedo Rentals. Jack retired in 1991 to enjoy time with his family and friends. Jack loved children. He cherished his daughter Tsiporah and his son Bernie. He raised them with honesty, simplicity and loving guidance. He was always supportive through difficult times and he took great pleasure in good times together. Jack was thrilled when Tsiporah graduated from medical school and when Bernie graduated with his degrees, Bachelor of Arts and Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was elated at the celebration of Tsiporah's wedding and Bernie's marriage. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. He babysat for Leanne, Josh and Julian and he beamed when Sarah charmed the nursing home residents and friends. Jack loved to travel and he enjoyed trips to Israel, to Las Vegas and California, to Boston, Toronto, and Vancouver to visit Tsiporah during her training, to Jamaica, to New Orleans with the family, to St. Louis and Louisville, and multiple trips to New York. He was thrilled to be able to attend Leanne's Bat Mitzvah, which became a highlight of his life. Everyone who met Jack liked him. He would go out of his way to do a good deed for someone else and he never had a bad word about anyone. He was an honourable man, with honest business ethics, and a love for life. He had an amazing sense of humour and his jokes were legendary. He was a true mensch. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Malke, his daughter Dr. Tsiporah Shore (Rabbi Jeffrey Gale), his son Bernie, his grandchildren Leanne, Joshua, Julian and Sarah; his sister Ruth Gordon (Sam); his sister-in-law Beatrice Starkman; his brother-in-law Ben Katz; nephews and nieces, Don Gordon, Zvi Gordon, Saul Jacobson, Sybil Stokoloff, Akivah Starkman, Gary Starkman, Roni Katz, David Katz, Ilana Katz - Morstead, and their spouses and children. He also leaves to mourn numerous cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Jennie Shore and his sister Razel Jacobson (Sammy). The family would like to thank Drs. Ramgoolam, Hajidiacos, Van Ameyde, Roberts, Palatnick and C. Bernstein for their outstanding care and kindness during Jack's illness. The family also extends sincere thanks to Miriam and the entire nursing staff, health care aides, Karen, Judy, Ann, and the two women with big hearts (the two Shelley's), Joyce and the dietary staff and numerous volunteers of the Lion's Personal Care Centre. Funeral services were held at Etz Chayim Synagogue on March 19 with Rabbi Balser, Rabbi Gale and Cantor Richard Yaffe officiating. Pallbearers were his grandchildren Leanne Gale, Josh Gale, newphews Zvi Gordon, Roni Katz, Akivah Starkman, Gary Starkman. Honorary pallbearers were Benny Shore, Sam Gordon, Ike Vickar, Harvey Spiegel, Joel Cogan, Albert Yanofsky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6 (774-5501) or to a charity of your choice.
