JACOB J. HEIDE Peacefully, on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, Jacob J. Heide, aged 87 years, passed away at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg. Jake was predeceased by his parents, Jacob Klass and Katherina (Dueck) Heide; his first wife Bertha; brothers, Henry, John and Nick; and sister-in-law Irma. To forever cherish his memory and spirit, Jake leaves his beloved wife Anne; sons, Jack (Margaret), Edward (Sharon); and daughters, Laura (Dan) McQuarrie and Anne Steele; grandchildren, Roxanne (Bill) Scraba, Matthew (Heather) Heide, Duane (Rebecca) Heide, Shauna Heide (fiancée Ken Cormies), Dianna (Terry) Bussey, Scott (Lucinda) McQuarrie, Sherilyn (James) Woytowich, Michelle Steele; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Tanner, Shaylee, Natasha, Andrew, Nicholas, Noah, Kieran, Makena, Kaden, Tannerai; brothers, Peter (Helen), Abe (Sue); sisters, Erna Albrecht, Anne (Jake) Harms, Agnes (Henry) Buhler; and sisters-in-law, Annie Shadforth and Elsie Heide. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter St., Winnipeg with interment to follow at Boissevain Cemetery, Manitoba at 4:00 p.m. Afterwards there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Whitewater Mennonite Church. Jake was born in Russia in 1918 and immigrated to Canada with his family to Whitewater, MB in 1926. It was here that he grew up, married and raised his family. After 47 years of marriage, his first wife Bertha, passed away. Two years later Jake met and married Anne Siemens and moved to Bethel Place in Winnipeg where he lived the rest of his life. Jake (Opa) was known to all as a man of great faith who trusted God above all else. He had a very strong sense of family and always loved to be surrounded by those he cared for.
