Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIVY DOREEN SIMPKIN (nee EIKRE) Notice of Memorial Service Date Surrounded by her family, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ivy Simpkin, aged 82 years, on January 3, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre. Ivy will be missed by her children, Gwen (Rolly) Harp of Camp Morton, MB, Margaret 'Maggie' (Lorne) Martin of Arnes, MB, Albert 'Bert' (Carol) Simpkin of Airdrie, AB and grandson Michael (Kim) Simpkin of Calgary AB. Also, her brother Harvey (Jo-Anne) Eikre and sister-in-law Eleanor Simpkin, both of Kenora, ON as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon; her parents, Ethel and Rasmus Eikre; her sister and brother-in-law, Olive and Harold Rasmusson; and sisters, Gertrude and Vida; as well as sister-in-law Marion Eikre; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vera and Albert Simpkin; and brother-in-law Walter Simpkin. Ivy was born in Penzance, SK and left home to attend Commercial College in Regina. She then relocated to Winnipeg and was employed with B.A. Oil. Shortly after moving to Winnipeg, she met Gordon and they were married July, 1947. In 1949, they built their home in Charleswood where they resided for 47 years being active in both the community and the Charleswood Legion. As the children grew older, Ivy returned to the workforce until her retirement after the age of 70. At the time of her retirement, she had celebrated over 30 years of service with Midwest Drilling (Germac). Ivy enjoyed many years of travelling with her family and friends. She also spent hours tending to her beautiful gardens around the pool. Cottage-life was an important focus of the family. We are left with many friendships and fond memories of our summers at the cabins in Winnipeg Beach and Husavick. Due to her health, Ivy moved from her home to Rimmer House (Lions Manor) in 1996 and subsequently to Riverview Health Centre where she resided for the past six and one half years. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the CD2 staff, Riverview Health Centre, who have been not only her caregivers but grew to be part of her family. Their care, compassion and respect was always greatly appreciated. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ivy's memory to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. A memorial service will be held in Ivy's memory at the Worship Centre, Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg on April 1 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre 885-9715 Forever in our hearts - love, your family
