JOAN LESLIE BERRY It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Leslie Berry. Joan passed away suddenly while holidaying in Calgary, AB on Saturday, February 25, 2006. She is survived and remembered by her two brothers, Bruce (Lenore) and Doug (Cheryl); nephews, Chad (Jacki) and Kevin; nieces, Christine (Darren) and Candice (Russell); great niece Jenna and great nephew C.J.; as well as numerous Berry / Williams family members; also some very special girlfriends and her three precious cats. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Stanley (1997) and Ruth (nee Williams) (2003). Joan was born on May 25, 1955 in Winnipeg. She was raised on the family farm in the Glencoe area at Cypress River. She attended elementary school in Cypress River and high school in Glenboro. After graduation, Joan worked for two years at Wawanesa Insurance in the town of Wawanesa. She then attended Brandon University and worked at a few other jobs. In 1980 Joan moved to Winnipeg and began working for Wawanesa Insurance. Joan had completed her 25th year with the company in September 2005. At her untimely passing she was the Collections Manager. Joan most enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her pets. She was a member of the Y and enjoyed watching football. Joan joined Toast Masters, which she really enjoyed. During holiday time she enjoyed travelling, relaxing at a cabin at the lake, or spending time at the family farm. Joan also liked flower gardening and being close to nature. She especially took pleasure in opening up her Winnipeg home, new to her in 2002, to family and friends. Joan will be extremely missed by those who knew her. The family wishes to especially thank Sharon and Lawrence for being there for Joan on her last day. Thank you for your compassionate care. A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cypress River United Church with Rev. Ron Fletcher officiating. Interment at Glencoe Cemetery and reception at Cypress Memorial hall followed. Should friends and family desire, donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st St., Brandon, MB R7A 2W8.
