Date of Passing: Mar 24, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET WALKER HILL (nee MOWAT) It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts we announce that our dear Margaret, wife, mother and grandmother, left us peacefully at home on Friday, March 24, 2006. She was challenged by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for several years and over the last two years had oxygen as a constant companion. Her battle was determined and courageous. Margaret is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years Bruce; daughters, Jane, Katherine (Lyle) Campbell, Andrea (Don) Gawick and Lisa Hill (Jeff) Heide. She will be sorely missed by the grandchildren she loved and adored: Matthew and James Campbell; Ryan, Kristina and Sara Gawick; Kelsey and Megan Heide. Her mother-in-law Elsie Hill; sisters, Christine Wolch and Agnes (Arnold) Billings; brother-in-law Dr. Robert (Pat) Hill; nieces, nephews and many relatives; particularly Dr. Norman and Bess Hill, mourn her passing. Margaret grew up in the west end and excelled academically and in athletics. She was a Canadian swim champion. No family could ask for a more devoted wife and mother. Her precision sewing and knitting for the girls was tireless, from baby clothes to graduation and prom dresses. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, and for more than thirty years coordinated an adapted swim program for Special Needs children of the Winnipeg School Division. This was a source of great pleasure and accomplishment for her and her volunteers. She was a dedicated care giver. Margaret was an ardent bridge player who thoroughly enjoyed the association with these long time friends. Margaret so enjoyed the lake, from childhood to her passing. Her garden, the birds, the trees, the wonderful sunsets and just being there' provided endless pleasure. Margaret, wife, mother and grandmother, as well as many happy memories, will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service, celebrating Margaret's life, will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Sharon Wilson at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
