ELMA KRUGER On March 25, 2006, Elma Kruger passed away peacefully at Boundry Trails Health Centre with her son by her side. She is survived by her son, Robert of Morden; two grandchildren, Shannon (Roger) Wagg of Hampton, IA and Dan of Montreal, QC and three grandchildren, Olivia and Katie Wagg and Katrina Kruger. She is also survived by one brother Herman Rempel of Morden and three sisters, Olga Hildebrand and Tina Draward of B.C. and Gladys Kroeker of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by one son Lesley in infancy, both her parents, two brothers, George and Arthur Rempel and one sister Hilda McAuley. Elma was the second of eight children born to Peter and Maria Rempel in 1916 in the village of Edenburg in Southern Manitoba. She spent the first 23 years of her life on the family farm and married Peter Kruger of Neubergthal, a neighbouring village in 1939. She moved to Winnipeg with Peter and Robert in 1943 where she continued to live and work until she and Peter purchased the McLeod's store in Dominion City, MB where they both worked until Peter's passing in 1974. Elma then moved to Winnipeg where she resided until 1997 when she relocated to Rosebank, MB to live with her son Robert. There she spent five enjoyable years gardening her beloved flowers and having friends and relatives for visits. Her health became fragile in 2002 and was hospitalized and then relocated to a personal care facility in Morden. Robert also relocated to Morden to be with his mother for frequent visiting. Elma worked for many years at Sears and finally as a Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 10 years where she received many commendations for her extra efforts. She took the time to make special foods as requested by seniors on her Meals on Wheels rounds. Elma and Peter also travelled during their many vacations; usually to warmer climates such as Bahamas and Hawaii. Elma also took cruises with her sisters and also visited Taiwan. She and her sisters also spent many winter months visiting friends in Arizona and staying with Robert who lived in Arizona at the time. She has left a legacy of thrift, determination and spirit to her family along with her many afghans for all family members and perhaps best of all her collection of family recipes which were savoured through the years. A special thanks to Boundry Trails Health Centre rehabilitation staff for their care and concern well above the extra mile. Funeral services for Elma will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2:00 p.m. at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Gretna, MB with interment to follow at the Neubergthal Cemetery. Viewing will be held prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elma can be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona 1-(204)-324-5404
