Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE (KAY) ROBERTSON (nee CANDLINE) 1905 - 2006 Peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre on March 22, 2006, Catherine Stewart Berry Robertson passed away at the age of 101. Catherine is survived by her daughter-in-law Viola of Winnipeg; her grandson Mark of New Westminster, BC; nephews, John Robertson, William Candline (Cecile) and Bob Robertson (Terry); nieces, Linda McIlwain, Catherine Scharfe (Ray), Doreen Westlake (Les), Jo-Ann McCabe (Alfred), and Heather Westdal (John). She will also be remembered by her grand nephews and nieces, her special friends Bob and Joan Publow, and her many friends at Knox United Church. She was predeceased by her husband Robert McKay Robertson, her parents, William and Catherine, brothers, William and Albert, sisters, Mae and Elizabeth, and her son David Robertson. Kay was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada with her mother and brother just prior to the First World War. Arriving by train, they were met by their father William Candline and were driven by horse and buggy over the muddy streets of a young city that would grow and be her home for the rest of her life. It was while attending a dance at the Alhambra on Fort Street that she met her husband to be, Robert Robertson. They made their home in Winnipeg where they raised their son David. They spent many wonderful years with the Candline clan at Winnipeg Beach and with the Robertsons in Winnipeg. Kay worked in the circulation department of the Winnipeg Tribune and at Eaton's. She was an efficient and reliable person and worked for Odeon Morton and Famous Players theatres in the box office and in the Rainbow Stage office in the Dayton Building. Active in retirement, she was an avid curler and bowler. She spent many years volunteering at the Knox UCW Thrift Shop and as a member of that church choir as well as the Smith Street Choir and the Stradbrook Seniors Choir. Catherine enjoyed the company of family and friends, taking long walks, and above all, music and song. Her many friends will miss her and her family will remember her always. A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church on April 1 at 3:00 p.m., 400 Edmonton St., with Rev. David N. Murata and Rev. Bill Millar officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to a charity of their choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
