JOHN (JEAN) BAPTISTE D'AOUST June 24, 1931 March 25, 2006 Peacefully, on Saturday, March 25, 2006, John passed away at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 74 years. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife Elsy; children, Madelaine (Walter), Maureen (Jim), Ramone (Ron), Pauline (Michael) and Dan (Sandy); 11 grandchildren, Luke, Simone, Nick, Matt, Katrina, Nathaniel, Christian, Haley, Megan, Amber and Rebecca. He was predeceased by his parents, Jeanne and Arthur D'Aoust; brothers, Daniel and Lugie. John was born in Zenon Park, SK and it was in Winnipeg that he met the love of his life, Elsy. They were married in 1958 and together they raised five children. Dad's diverse careers included a successful clothing business, carpentry and construction supervisor. He had a great love for music and spent 14 years in the Manitoba Opera Chorus and over 30 years in church choirs. As a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Dad served in various ministries. On parish council, he assisted in planning the present church. It was his role as Eucharistic minister that brought greatest joy as he shared his faith with others. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m., in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. with Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert presiding. Interment will follow in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Our family wishes to thank the staff of 5 North at the Grace Hospital for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
