ANNE EVA LUPRYPA September 6, 1922 - March 24, 2006 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Anne Luprypa (nee Andrewshenko) on March 24, 2006 at her home in Gimli, MB. Mom was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was first and foremost considerate of the feelings of others before her own, kind and generous to everyone she met and knew, forgiving to a fault, and the greatest parent anyone could have prayed for. Born September 6, 1922 to Mary and Felix Andrewshenko in Ledwyn, MB, she leaves to cherish our many heartfelt and happy memories of her by sons, Danny (Brenda -deceased 2005), Barry (Aileen) and Alvin; grandchildren Samara, Tabitha and Danny-Jo; sisters Pauline Owczar (Joe - deceased 1998), Olga Neirinck (Fred); cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. Anne was predeceased by husband Walter Luprypa (2005), brothers Nick Andrewshenko, Joe Andrewshenko (Olga) and sister Stella Bouchard. Anne left the family farm in Ledwyn at age 18 to work in Winnipeg. While at home for the weekend, she attended a wedding at the Ledwyn Hall where Walter was playing in the band and the courtship began. Anne and Walter were married on November 7, 1946 and lived with Walter's parents on the farm in Shorncliffe, MB for the first year. They moved to Gimli where Dad started his own business. Mom stayed at home to raise the family while Dad's business grew. The old saying: Beside every successful man stands a loving woman is especially true for Mom. She worked with Walter side by side, running the office, and was responsible for the secretarial, administrative and receptionist duties. She worked hard to help Dad achieve his successes. At the same time, she made sure that all was taken care of at home, never complaining and doing what had to be done out of love for her husband and three sons. Mom was truly an amazing lady and we are grateful for her strength and devotion. Anne trusted Walter's judgement whether it was working and raising a family in Gimli, relocating to Fort McMurray, AB in 1979, retiring to Kelowna, BC in 1987, or moving back home to Gimli in 1992. Baba wanted to be near her grandchildren whom she loved so dearly. Anne made friends wherever she went, friendships that lasted a lifetime. Always giving of herself, always bringing a smile to your face, always a kind word. Her love was unconditional. Mom liked to have fun too. She enjoyed music and dancing, playing cards or a lively game of huzanga with family and friends, and added to the enjoyment of others with her infectious laugh. Mom absolutely loved curling and in her earlier days in Gimli never missed a bonspiel. In her later years, she looked forward to watching curling matches on television and would regularly phone her sister Pauline to discuss how the game should have been played. They spoke daily and were a comfort to each other. The love of two sisters and life so short. Mom, Your spirit is with us. You are our guardian angel now, at peace with the Lord for you are one of His special creations. We will miss you terribly. You are in our minds, our hearts and our souls. Bye for now with love. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Gimli, MB. Interment to follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Special Olympics Gimli Swim Program in care of Brenda Preston, P.O. Box 1949, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
