Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRODMOND JOHN AGER It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Rodmond John Ager, with his family by his side, on March 24, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Born in Carman, November 19, 1930, he grew up in the Roseisle area until he joined the Royal Canadian Regiment, where he served in the Korean War for six years. While overseas Dad was able to visit Japan and Germany for which he had many a story. After returning from the army, he married the love of his life, Shirley Bottrell in 1956. They both lived in Winnipeg and then in Stonewall where together they built their dream home and raised their family. He worked at Stony Mountain Institution for 29 years, where he met good friends, Bill Robb, Trevor Lloyd, Lloyd Fisher, Linda and Frank Filbert, just to name a few, and there are many more. Dad loved his garden and loved making flower gardens for Mom to plant the beautiful flowers, which they both worked hard growing indoors through the winter months. He also loved raising pigs and chickens. He always was able to find one that would just sit around and keep him company when he relaxed. He loved to tell stories about his life to anyone who wanted to listen. His children and grandchildren were very attentive. After retiring, Dad and Mom moved to Ashern to be closer to the cabin that they loved so much. He loved sitting by the fire in the evening and on the deck during the day with Mom, sipping a cold beer and enjoying the water. He loved fishing and hunting, especially when he was able to enjoy the company of his son and son- in-law and grandsons. Every day was a milestone as each day brought something new. He was one who would be there if you needed a hand. Dad thought of each one of his family no different than the other. Whoever graced his home was considered family. Dad was more fortunate than many, for when he was a young man he lost his own family, then gained a very large one. Those who really knew him thought of him with the highest regard. Dad had impeccable strength and courage to the end of his journey. He fought with his Diabetes but in the end could not fight anymore. No one could be more proud than we are of the wonderful inspiration that he showed. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Shirley of 49 and a half years; his children, Garth Ager and wife Corie, Cheryl Huska and husband Dave Sr., Sandra Ager, Loretta Hernandez and partner Joe Mason and son-in- law Byron Hernandez; his grandchildren, Roblyn Ager, Danielle Ager, Belinda Raposo and husband Peter, David Huska and fiancée Andrea Berg, Rodmond Huska, Katie, Skyler and Logan Hernandez, Talia Mason, Dwight Heinamann, Christopher, Faron, Darion, Ulises, Emilio, Larenzo, Seleena, Sereena, Hesia Angel Ager and Leah Demar; great-grandchildren, Olivia Raposo and Tyler Huska. He also leaves to mourn his passing many nieces, nephews, and many sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents in the 1940's, one infant sister, a son Pat Collins and a daughter Dianne Ager. May the angels carry you to heaven, to be free of illness and pain. We love you forever and miss you always. Be at peace Dad, you will always be in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ashern Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Pallbearers for Dad will be Garth Ager, Dave Huska, Byron Hernandez, David Huska, Rodmond Huska, Peter Raposo and Roblyn Ager. Honorary pallbearers will be everyone who had graced Dad with their friendship and love.
