MARTHA AGNES OLSON (WURSTER)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA AGNES OLSON (nee WURSTER) Peacefully on March 26, 2006 at the Ashern Personal Care Home, with her loving family by her side, Martha Agnes Olson, aged 90 years of Ashern, MB, formerly of Steep Rock. Martha was born on August 20, 1915, in Grahamdale, MB. She received her schooling at Carnridge and attended the Bayton Church. She married Kris Olson on May 27, 1942. In 1945 they bought out his father's home place, and ranched on Peonan Point for many years. As their family grew in 1945 they purchased a home in Steep Rock so the kids could attend school. For a brief time Kris operated the Grahamdale Hotel. Martha enjoyed knitting many sweaters and pairs of mitts for her family. She loved to sew, quilt and cook. She was a 4-H Leader and was an active member with the United Church. Berry picking was a favourite summer pastime. She is survived by her children, James (Gayle) Olson, Linda (Elmer) Nickel, David (Phyllis) Olson and a son-in-law Don Cook; grandchildren, Kris, Stephen, Darren, Joanne and Cheryl Cook, Richard, Carol, Nathan, Adam, Vanessa, Johnathan, Phillip, Amber and Deborah Olson, Leanne, Daniel, Jason and Kevin Nickel, Trevor, Tim, Carmela, Kristinna and Aaron Olson; along with 31 great-grandchildren and five more on the way; also by sisters-in-law, Helen Wurster, Linda Wurster, and Ann Wurster; and a brother Richard (Flora); many nieces, nephews and other family members, and many good friends. She was predeceased by her husband Kris; her mom and dad, Marianne and Daniel; her daughter Marilyn; and her stepfather Julius Hoffman; brothers, Henry (Mary), Bill, Edward (Dorothy), Walter, Harry, Ernie (Ella) and Ted; sisters, Edith (Howard Dooley), Helen (Walter Danielson), Elsie (Lou) Crane. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Faulkner Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Community Cemetery. Thank you to Dr. Carole Benson and to Dr. Steyn and the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital, and Personal Care Home of the wonderful care they gave our mother. Donations in Martha's memory may be made to the Lakeshore General Hospital, for use in the Palliative Care Unit, in care of Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
