Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH HUGH NEAL It is with sadness that the family of Kenneth Hugh Neal announces his passing on March 28, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital. Ken was born on October 30, 1922 in Milk River, AB. The only child of Percy and Greta Neal, he grew up on the family farm, but developed a love for flying. With the onset of the Second World War, Ken joined the RCAF in 1941, and served with No. 5 Air Observer School based in Winnipeg. It was in Winnipeg that Ken met Lorraine McNamee, and on July 22, 1944, they were married. After the war, Ken began surveying with the railway, and later joined the firm of Bayne and Hyde. He completed his studies in surveying and obtained his commission as a Manitoba Land Surveyor. He eventually took over the company with two partners and formed the new company of Wilson, Neal and Hayward. In his spare time, Ken continued to pursue his love of flying, and in 1980, obtained his pilot's licence again, as he had not flown since the war. When he retired in 1981, he started a new project, which was the building of a Zenith CH250 airplane. Upon its completion, he once again took to the skies and enjoyed many hours flying over southern Manitoba. Ken enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, and he and Lorraine spent many happy summers at Pye's Landing on Lake of the Woods. Ken was a proud father to his two sons, Gordon and K.C., although sadly, Gordon pre-deceased his father in 1960. In his later years, Ken enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. Ken will be missed by his wife Lorraine, son K.C. and wife Harriet, and grandchildren Jamie and Matthew, as well as many other relatives and friends. A private interment will take place at a later date. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD (BETWEEN PEMBINA WAVERLEY) 925-1120
