LAWRENCE DESMOND BRISTOW Mercifully, on March 29, 2006, at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk, after a long and stoic struggle with Lewy Body Disease / Parkinson Disease, Larry entered into his eternal rest. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred Charles in 1963; mother, Marjorie Ellen in 1973; brother Ralph John in 2000; and his step-mother Elizabeth (Betty) in 1971. He is survived by his half-brother Gerry (Carol) of Selkirk; niece Kristin (Jeff) and their son, Joshua, of Winnipeg; nephew Jason (Marta) of Ottawa; step-sisters, Jessie Headon (Fred) of Winnipeg, Shirley Kenny of Lively, ON, Joy Macgregor of Winnipeg; and cousin Margaret Carter, of Richmond, BC. He will also be missed by Mary Stregger (affectionately known by Larry as Nanny ) of Selkirk, Sylvia, Darol, and Bradley (Cindy) Clute of Calgary, and Brent Clute of Fredericton, NB. Larry was born in Montreal on March 10, 1930, and moved as a child to Winnipeg where he lived until 2000 when he moved to Selkirk. Larry attended the Winnipeg School of Fine Arts and University of Manitoba. He worked diligently and conscientiously in various positions with the railroad and as a taxicab driver and truck driver. He retired in 1990 and then spent many hours recording several sets of the complete works of Beethoven. His early adult life was consumed with tennis, cycling and painting. He later became a knowledgeable, enthusiastic devotee of classical music, particularly of the Baroque, Classical and early Romantic periods. His favourite composers were J.S. Bach and Beethoven. Larry was a quiet, gentle, content, honest, kind and generous person. He became a part of Gerry and Carol's family and a very deep and loving bond developed between Unc and Jason and Kristin. He will be greatly missed but has left us with many wonderful, and some humourous, memories. Many thanks to those that have cared for Larry: Dr. Marvin Slutchuk, Dr. Barry Campbell, Dr. Graham Fuchs, Dr. Habtu Demsas, and, particularly, the staff of the Betel Personal Care Home, Selkirk. Cremation and a private family service will take place with interment at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
