She was predeceased by her parents, Osias and Adrienne Duclos; husband Walter Lacroix; son Lucien LaCroix; sister Germaine Monette and brothers, Marcel, August, Denis and Maurice. Mom was born in Ponteix, SK in 1922. She spent a happy childhood on her parent's farm near Cadillac, SK and moved with her family to a farm near Poplar Point, MB in 1937. Mom and Dad were married in 1939 and they farmed together for forty years in the Belcourt district. Mom worked very hard raising her family and was actively involved in all aspects of farm life. Mom was a gracious hostess and a great cook. Her home was always open to visitors and she could whip up a great meal in no time. In later years Mom also worked at the Lions Manor in Portage and as a home care aide. Music played a large part in Mom's life. She chorded on piano and guitar for her husband and other fiddlers at old time fiddling contests and dances. Mom was a wonderful singer and shared this talent in her church choirs. She also volunteered her time and talents playing and entertaining at Seniors Homes. Mom spent her retirement years living at Hamilton House in Winnipeg where she was very involved in all of the activities and had many good friends. Her last days were spent at the Grace Hospice where Mom and the family received such wonderful care from all of the nurses and staff. We are all very grateful for their kindness and compassion. Prayers will be held on Monday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed John XXIII, 3390 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow.
