STEVE DANYLCHUK April 1, 1912 March 30, 2006 Peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2006, two days before his 94th birthday, Steve passed away at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. Steve was predeceased by two infant children, Olga and Walter and by four brothers and four sisters. Left to remember Steve are his loving wife of 71 years, Lena; sons, Ron (Elena), Jerry (Donna) and Bob (Margaret); seven grandchildren, Tammy Gerstner (Paul), Virpi Mattson (Brian), Steven, Bradley, David, Gordon, Jennifer Thompson (Greg); seven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Courtney, Sarah, Grace, Jessica and Jacob. Born in Gonor, MB, Steve farmed in the surrounding area with his family. In 1934 he married Lena and farmed at Greenridge, MB. Then in 1946 the family moved to Winnipeg and Steve began working for Canada Cement Ltd. until his retirement in 1977. Afterwards Steve was offered a position at the Fort Whyte Nature Centre, a job he thoroughly enjoyed for about six years. Steve and Lena then enjoyed many happy years working in their garden and taking time to travel and visit with their family and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Betty Jean and the caring staff at Meadowood Personal Care Home for their loving care during his residency there. Prayers will be held on Sunday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
