Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE BERTHA DUCHARME (nee CHARTRAND) October 3, 1933 - March 28, 2006 With her family at her side it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Gracie after a courageous battle with kidney failure and heart disease on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Portage General Hospital at the age of 72 years. Gracie was born in Duck Bay, MB on October 3, 1933 and resided in Winnipeg for most of her life. In December of 2001 she moved to Portage la Prairie and resided at the Stephens Apts. until her death. Gracie is survived by her husband Albert; five children, Lawrey, Lorne (Darlene), Irene (Louie), Alcide (Janice), Jane (Paul); 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends; one brother Anthony Chartrand; one sister Elizabeth Gryaiels; and special friends, Mary (Douglas) Munroe and Lizzie Ducharme. Gracie was predeceased by her, mom and dad, Flora Jane and Michelle Chartrand; her brother Ray Chartrand; sister Lena Heroux; brother-in-law James Quinn; son Lawrence; special friend Big Val ; and grandsons, Greg and Trevor. Prayers will be said on Sunday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr. With Wake to follow. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. also at the Chapel with Fr. Francois Paridis officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Louie, Lawrey, Lorne, Alcide, Paul and Douglas, Norman and Paul Jr. Active Pallbearers will be, Frank Paul Jr, Richard Chartrand, Ronald Ducharme, Frank Paul Sr, Jason Lacasse and Clarence Ducharme. We offer special thanks to the Dialysis Staff, Mosquitto, Joanne and the Medical Unit Staff for all the caring they showed Mom at the Portage General Hospital.
