Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kay Burelle of Roblin, Margaret (Neil) Sullivan of Winnipeg, Paul (Mary) Burelle of Neepawa, Marie Mallabar of London, Ontario, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Marguerite was born in 1916 educated in Winnipegosis along with eight sisters and one brother. At an early age, Marguerite left home to begin work in Meadow Portage, Toutes Aides and Laurier. In Laurier, while employed by the Saquet family she met and married her husband Ernest in September 1936. The same year Marguerite and Ernest returned to Meadow Portage where they began their new life together, this included their four children in the following years. While employed by the Jeannotte family, Marguerite was involved in the day to day domestic duties. Cooking was one that she became very good at and loved. Making her own yarn from raw wool, knitting this into mittens and socks as well as heavy sweaters were her hobbies. Seaming and mending commercial fish nets for the local fisherman was also undertaken on an annual basis. Marguerites greatest challenge occurred in 1952 when Ernest became very ill and passed away at the early age of 42. Marguerite, with the support of relatives and friends was required to raise the four children that ranged in age from two to fifteen years. In 1967 after the youngest child was grown, Marguerite joined her sisters in Churchill, Manitoba where she took up employment until 1973. During this period Marguerite met Joseph Lang and returned to Winnipeg where they were married and resided until Joseph's death in 1986. Marguerite and Joseph travelled to Europe and the United States and enjoyed local trips in Manitoba doing what they loved to do, hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. Marguerite also excelled in swimming and skating, although her longest enjoyed hobby was knitting. She lovingly made all types of woolen wear which she handed out to family. This remained her favorite pastime until very recently. Marguerites' most precious times were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These times became much more precious and cherished during her last stay at the Personal Care Home, Foyer Valade in St. Vital. Recent birthdays were celebrated there, visits with a lot of humor, sing-a-longs and relaxed conversation took place on a regular basis. Marguerite suffered a stroke in the summer of 2005 which she recovered from with some speech restrictions, however four weeks ago Marguerite had another stroke that she was unable to overcome. Marguerite passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Marguerite will be missed immensely by her family and friends. The family extends our gratitude to Dr. Francois and the staff at the Foyer Valade for the wonderful care Marguerite received during her stay.
