Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFFORD SPENCE Shortly after midnight on March 28, 2006 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, Cliff (Cigar) Spence peacefully passed away in his sleep. He was 70 years old. He leaves to mourn his wife of 44 years, Malvina Spence; his only child - daughter Fern-Marie James (Derrick) of Winnipeg; his only grandson - Shayne of Ashern; his granddaughters, Stacey (Eugene) of Ashern, and Selina (Jean-Francois) of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren Ariel, Aaron and Shylah, and unborn great-grandson due in June. Cliff also leaves to mourn his only sister Violet, and brothers David (Loretta) and Stanley, along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Dan, Jim, Elmer, Ivor and Norman, mother Rose, and his step-father Lawrence. Cliff was born January 30, 1936 in the Municipality of Siglunes, and he went to school at Pebble Beach. Cliff and Malvina married in September 1961. Cliff worked at various positions until September 1969 when he settled with his wife Malvina and daughter Fern-Marie in Thompson, MB. He worked for the city of Thompson until his retirement in 1999, then returned to his hometown of Ashern, MB. Cliff, or Cigar as he was known to his buddies, was a generous man, always ready to dig in his pockets to hand out a $20 dollar bill or just help out. His passions were billiards, bingo, children, animals, sports and flowers. If anybody knew Cigar, they knew they could always count on him for a kind word and a humourous story that always had a moral ending (even if you didn't get it at first). Cliff had a great appetite for life, and no greater love than what he felt for his wife and family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the hall. The service will conclude in the hall with cremation to follow. Interment will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Ashern at a later date. arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD.
