MICHELLE BARRETTE It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michelle at age 47. Surrounded by her loving family at home, Michelle passed away on Friday, March 31, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Michelle will be forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, especially her wonderful daughters, Melissa and Tina; best friend and husband of 23 years, Giorgio Celere; mother Claudette Claude; stepfather Yves Claude; sisters, Danielle, Lynda, Lyne, Sylvie, Jasmine, Nicole; brothers, Sylvain, Michel; grandmother Raymonde Labonté; mother-in-law Argentian Celere; brother and sister-in-law Lowell and Elizabeth Lee; and her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her father Raymond Barrette; brother Yves Jr.; grandfather Maurice Labonté; uncle Jacques Auclair; and father-in-law Antonio Celere. Michelle was born March 29, 1959 in Sorel, QC. She graduated from Msgr. A.M. Parent High School in 1976 and began working immediately in the retail sector. In 1979, she became an Assistant Manager at Sears (Brossard) where she met her husband. After a transfer to Winnipeg and the birth of her second daughter, Michelle took time off to raise her children. In 1995, Michelle returned to school in Administrative/Financial Studies and upon completion was hired at CDEM. She was CDEM's Financial Officer and was in her second year of the CGA program when she learned of her illness. Michelle enjoyed camping, travelling, bowling, playing cards and watching movies. She also enjoyed visiting and entertaining friends, which usually ended with a card game. She was witty and had a great infectious sense of humour. Michelle was the family's pillar; a devoted mother and wife. Regardless of the activity, she always encouraged her daughters and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and health care workers for their genuine concern and compassionate care. Special thanks to Doctors J. Krek, P. Harris and G. Schroeder; there truly are angels among us. As per Michelle's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St., on Tuesday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Cancer Society.
