THOMAS ANGUS KELLOCK Thomas Angus Kellock died at the age of 88 on March 15, 2006 in Victoria General Hospital, following an injury and illness sustained in Honolulu this past January. Tom is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 65 years; his sisters, Florence McDermot and Jean Carey; his daughter Irene Peterson and husband Ken, and their children, David and Kristine; his son Michael and wife Sharon, and Michael's sons, Steven and Matthew; his daughter Jan and husband Richard, their children, Emily and Nathan, Jan's daughter Rayelene and his great-granddaughter, Suzanna. Tom was born in Cranbrook on May 3, 1917, grew up in Winnipeg and served in the RCNVR from 1942 to 1945. In 1962 he moved to the Westcoast and worked for Qwest Foods on the Lower Mainland, and on Vancouver Island until his retirement in 1977. For the past 25 years, Tom and Joyce spent their time in Victoria during the summer, and in Hawaii during the winter. A man who enjoyed life and sportsmanship, Tom won many trophies at curling and golf competitions, and in his later years, was an avid Bridge player. Tom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1946, and a member of the Central Baptist Church family since the early 1990's. Tom's smile, laughter and sense of humour brought joy into the lives of everyone he met. He loved being around people, and throughout the years, his home was always full of friends and family. Most of all, his family was the meaning of life to him, and Tom loved nothing more than sitting around with his children and grandchildren, and reminiscing about his early years growing up with 10 brothers and sisters, his time in the Navy during the Second World War, and all the adventures he had experienced in life. Tom will be remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who always took the time to let others know how special they were to him. His encouragement, support and generous spirit will never be forgotten, and the precious memories Tom shared will live on in the hearts and minds of his family. We take comfort knowing that Tom is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 833 Pandora Ave. on April 8 at 4:00 p.m. If you wish, please donate to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
