JOAN V. FOGG 1927 - 2006 Peacefully, with her family surrounding her, Joan passed away on March 29, 2006. Joan is survived by her husband, Walter; daughter Sherrin Terhoch (Marvin); grandchildren, Marshall Terhoch (Sherry-Lee), Andrew Terhoch (Jodi), Iain Terhoch, Erin Harris (Jim), Jordan and Evan Fogg and their mother Marti Dheere, Cody Fogg of Toronto; and by her great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Emma and Nate, who all brought such joy into her life. She was predeceased by her son Paul; parents Gertrude and James Williamson; brother Rod Williamson of Halifax; and brother Nelson Williamson of Mexico. Joan is also survived by her brother Ed Williamson, of Uxbridge, ON; sister Shirley Blom, of Ontario; brother Sidney, of Mexico; and her large extended family and dear friends. Joan is lovingly remembered and deeply respected for her rich spirit, intellect and wit; for her openness and honesty; and for the dignity she carried and shared, no matter what she faced in life. With understanding, compassion and humour, she was a committed care-giver and while she cherished independence, she accepted being cared for with gratitude. She was working in the Main Coding Office in Halifax, when she met Walter. They married on August 1, 1945, moved to Winnipeg, and Joanie and Walt built and shared a life of love for 60 years. Joan worked at The Winnipeg Free Press for many years, moving through the organization to retire as an Executive Assistant. She was an active member of the Manitoba Crafts Guild; president of the East Kildonan Ladies Kiwanis; and a member of John Black United Church for many years. Besides her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joan's passion in life was literature and reading. She was known to read a book in one sitting or have two or more on the go at one time. A celebration of Joan's life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Kiwanis Gardens, 110 Morris Ave. in Selkirk, Manitoba. All friends and family are invited to come by anytime from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If friends or family wish, donations are invited to the Selkirk and St. Andrews Community Library, 303 Main Street, Selkirk MB, R1A1S7, or to the charity of choice. The library will honour Joan by purchasing books in her name. The family wishes to thank the staff at Selkirk General Hospital and St. Boniface MICU for their caring for Joan and all of us. Private interment.
