Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE (JUDY) HAY September 17, 1917 - April 2, 2006 On April 2, 2006, Judy passed away peacefully at home. She was predeceased by her parents, Major John and Margaret Hay. Judy will be sadly missed by her extended family and many friends. Judy lived a long and productive life, enriched by interesting work, a variety of interests and valued friends. She was born in Winkler, MB but lived all her life in Winnipeg. She attended Somerset School, Maple Leaf Collegiate and in 1938, she graduated with a B.A. degree from Wesley College. Judy taught typing at Success Business College and at the outbreak of the Second World War, worked for the British Supply Board in Hamilton, ON where she become an inspector of guns and gun carriages. She joined the W.R.E.Ns and was assigned to H.M.C.S. St. Hyacinthe, QC as Supply Officer. Upon discharge following the war, Judy worked for the Province of Manitoba where, among other positions, she was secretary to the Provincial Secretary. In 1956, she joined the University of Manitoba Continuing Education Department as Supervisor of Audio-visuals and later worked as Community Outreach Worker, holding this position until her retirement in 1981. Judy led an active and vigorous life in retirement, pursuing interests in travel, photography and community service. She was a volunteer with Creative Retirement Manitoba and the St. Matthews-Maryland Community Outreach project, and was an active member of the University Women's Club of Winnipeg. When her health no longer permitted these activities she spent her final years as a resident of Fred Douglas Place, where she will be sadly missed by her many friends. A graveside service has taken place. A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Fred Douglas Place, 333 Vaughan St. Special thanks to Tara, Cindy and Grace and to all the home care workers for the wonderful care they provided to Judy.
