PETER BERNUSKY Peacefully, on April 3, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Peter Bernusky, aged 87 years, beloved husband of Reta Bernusky, passed away. Left to cherish Peter's memory, besides Reta, his wife of 63 years, are daughter Elaine (Rod); three grandchildren, Trevor (Tiffany), Christine (Luis) and Steven (Shaun); seven great-grandchildren, as well as extended family, Michael, Carla, Kelly, Madeline Chernetz of Calgary and Merna Chernetz of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his son Mervin Peter on March 25, 1976, special nephew Harry Chernetz on December 2, 1999, his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Peter was born and raised in the Springfield area. As a young boy he worked at the Pineridge Golf Course as a caddy. Later on he worked at McCurdy's Pit and finally with Nelson River Construction for 40 years. He was well known for his big heart, always willing to help any family or friend. His greatest joy was to have his family around him. Peter enjoyed a great game of cards, pool, golfing, camping, gardening and fishing at the lake. His hobbies were building bird houses and lawn chairs. He loved animals, birds, deer and his buddy, Jasper . The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and health care workers for their genuine concern and compassionate care. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8.
