EDWARD A. WALKOW Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Edward passed away on April 4, 2006. Edward will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 42 years, Jan; children, Kathryn and husband Terry, Lisa and husband Andy, Jason and Lori; his beloved granddaughters, Tyler, Miya and Nyah; Edward's sister Phyllis and husband Jack; sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his mother-in-law and friend, Katherine (Nana). Edward was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Frances and nephew Mark. Ed was born in Winnipeg on February 12, 1922. He was a longtime employee at C.N.R. from 1940 to 1987 as a Motive Power Supervisor. He proudly served in Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945. Ed enjoyed serving on the board of directors at the Entegra (Holy Spirit) Credit Union for over 42, spending 33 years as board president. Ed loved sports, partaking in baseball and bowling, and in his later years proudly supported the Jets, Bombers and Goldeyes. His interests included fishing, stamp collecting, listening to music, travelling and yardwork. He prided himself in the ability to fix just about anything. Ed selflessly placed his family first, and was willing to help out those around him any way he could. As a result of his kindness and loyalty to others, he acquired many lifelong friends. His witty sense of humour was appreciated by all who knew him. The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. C. Loepp and the staff at Concordia Hospital and the Oncology Department at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion. A heartfelt thank you to cousin Caroline for her generosity, strength and support. Last but not least, to those who through their prayers and acts of kindness, helped to carry Ed and his family through these very difficult months, we are eternally grateful. Prayers will be said on Sunday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church with Brother Jorge Villegas, O.F.M., Cap. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
