DOROTHY ATKINSON Peacefully on April 5, 2006, Dorothy Atkinson passed away at the Victoria General Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. Dorothy will be sadly missed and joyfully remembered by her dear husband of 64 years, Lloyd; her son Donald; daughters, Jane Baizley and Carol Prosk (George); her cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey and Amy Baizley, Adam and Jennifer Prosk; her sister-in-law Ethel Buchanan and family; and special friends the Docker and Beuerle families. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Buchanan and sister Margaret Buchanan. Dorothy was a proud and private woman who dedicated her life to her families' happiness. She took great pride in entertaining at her home in Wildwood Park and cherished her friendships formed from the over 50 years association with her neighbourhood bridge group. Dorothy enjoyed curling at the Wildewood Club and delivering Meals on Wheels with her dear friend Audrey Montgomery. Her interest in people and the world around her endeared her to many. A keen geographer she enjoyed following the travels of her children and grandchildren. With map in hand, Dorothy expertly navigated her own travels to Destin, FL where she and Lloyd spent 15 wonderful winters. She treasured the special family times spent with her children and grandchildren at the family cottage at Dorothy Lake and in later years, on family vacations at Matlock. The family would like to extend a thank you to Victoria General Hospital Chaplain Ron Long and special caregivers, Cory and Madonna. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 3:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Salvation Army.
