JOHN ALEXANDER (JACK) SIMPSON 1928 2006 In memory of Jack who passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006. He is predeceased by his parents and brother (Bill) and is survived by his wife Edith (Nanaimo formerly of Winnipeg Beach), and children, Caroline (Vancouver), Heather (Barry, Winnipeg), Russ (Calgary), his grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Anthony, Lauren, Adam and Amber. Jack spent the majority of his professional career in the oil and gas industry starting with Purity 99 in 1958 continuing with Royalite, Gulf and retiring from Petro Canada in 1990. Throughout his life he was a member of a number of organizations including the Shriner's (Khartum Temple), Masons (Ancient Scottish Rite Lodge) and the Rotary Club. His interests were numerous and diverse. In his younger years, he was an avid trap-shooter and won many shoots including the Canadian National Championship in 1965. He enjoyed golf, boating, fishing and was a gourmet cook who impressed many guests with his culinary skill. Above all, Jacks' passion was bird hunting. Until his health prevented the yearly fall sojourn to the farmers fields he never missed a hunting season and he always brought home the most birds. It was most fitting that he left us just as the geese were returning home. Cremation has taken place and a private family commemoration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Families for Effective Autism Treatment (MFEAT), 211 Campbell Street, Winnipeg, MB R3N 1B4.
