SAM BLAHY Peacefully at the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre on April 5, 2006, Sam Blahy, our beloved father, grandfather and papa, passed away at the age of 81 years. Sam was born in Ukraine on January 22, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Atikokan, ON. He resided in Atikokan until 1980 when business ventures had him relocate to Baldur, MB and then on to Shoal Lake in 1994. He was predeceased by his wife Ann in 1993 and leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Ann (John) Foster of Snow Lake, MB, Michael (Lise) Blahy of Shoal Lake and Rod (Tammy) Blahy of Winnipeg. He will also be missed tremendously by his grandchildren, Bobbi-Lynn (Paul) Peddle of Rocanville, SK, Jennifer, Candace, Kyle, Andrea, Shawna Blahy (Shoal Lake), and Andrew Blahy (Winnipeg) and his great-grandchildren, Jaida and Parker Peddle. Family meant everything to Sam and even in failing health, it was his family that kept him going and gave him the will and determination to continue on with his battles. Prayers will be said on Sunday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. from St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shoal Lake. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shoal Lake with Fr. Edward Danylo Evanko officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldur Cemetery, Baldur, MB at 3:30 p.m. with Msgr. Enrique Samson officiating. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre and to the excellent home care workers for the care and support they have given to Sam and the family over the last few years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, P.O. Box 490, Shoal Lake, MB R0J 1Z0.
