Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) KENNEDY May 20, 1919 - April 6, 2006 Peacefully on April 6, 2006, John Kennedy passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86, with family at his side. He will be sadly missed by his wife Eleanor of 57 years; sons, Robert (Soleta), Glenn (Cindy); grandchildren, Cameron, Corinne, Fellicia, Heather, Jacqueline and Jeff. He was predeceased by parents, three sisters and son Norman. John was born in Gladstone, MB to Angus and Anne Kennedy and he worked with his father in the Kennedy Meat Market. In October of 1941, he joined the R.C.A.F and served in Canada and overseas (England) until March of 1946. Upon his return, John went into business with his father at Kennedy Meats and Groceries, served on the Gladstone Council, was a member of the Gladstone Legion and the Gladstone Male Voice Choir. When the business was sold, he moved to Winnipeg with his family. Here he worked for Shop-Easy, then Millers Meat Market until he retired. One year later he went back to work as a dispatcher for L.M. Radiator and G.M. Gest finally retiring at the age of 77. John's special love was for his family and grandchildren. His hobbies included camping with his family and travelling to visit friends and relatives. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support. Also special thanks to the Home Care Workers, Charleswood Lion Day Club and Riverview Day Club for the kindness extend to John. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 830 North Dr., with reception to follow. Interment will take place in St. Vital Cemetery.
