MILDRED MCCUTCHEON A true and honest heart has stopped beating. At just 2 weeks short of 100 years, Mom gently left us Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Boyne Lodge in Carman. Lyle, her husband for 73 years, predeceased her in June 2002. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Arnold (Ilace), Joyce (Fred), Marion (Fraser), Jim (Frances), Deanna (Wilfred), David, by her 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She attained the governor-general's medal for General Proficiency in 1924. After attending Normal School in Portage la Prairie, she taught at Brigdenly and Boyne Schools. After marriage in 1928, she became an active part of the Homewood Community where Dad and she farmed. Mom was a lifelong faithful member of the United Church. She had a searching mind and always relished a good theological discussion. She was very fond of flowers, especially gladiolas, and often had her kitchen adorned with dozens of them. She was an expert seamstress, tailor, and cook. Her macramé and basket making projects afforded her intense satisfaction. Until macular degeneration reduced her vision severely, she was also a prolific reader and avid Scrabble player. Mom had a beautiful face, a beautiful mind and a beautiful heart. Ever seeking the better way of looking at life, she was loving, patient, tolerant and fair. A memorial service will be held at Carman United Church on April 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations may be made to the Carman United Church, Box 1177, Carman, MB R0G 0J0 or to a charity of one's choice. Doyle's Funeral Chapel of Carman, in care of arrangements. www.doyleschapels.com
