ELSIE STUPAK It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom on Friday, March 31, 2006 at her home, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 92 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Eleanora Hildebrandt (Harvey), Gladys Hastmann and Annette Zachar (Steve); grandchildren, Greg Hildebrandt (Barb), Gwen Gmiterek (Ernie), Kim Mars (Darrin), Joanne Michaels (Sean); great-grandchildren, Curtis, Kevin, Jesse and Joshua Hildebrandt, Myles and Mitchell Gmiterek, Kandyce and Kelly Mars; sister Evelyn Litke; brother Harry Riench as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Last but not least, her faithful companion, her pet cat Boo. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Paul Hastmann; daughter Myrtle in childhood; sisters, Emma, Lena Wagner, Edith Reich, Violet Broda; and brothers, Albert, Edward and Alex. On October 25, 1913, Mom was born in Brunkild, MB to Daniel and Wilhelmina Reinch. The family moved to Green Bay, then Lydiatt finally settling in Beausejour. She was a hard worker and while raising her family, she also worked at the Beausejour Hospital in the Housekeeping department. Upon her retirement, due to health problems, Mom moved to Winnipeg to reside with her daughter Gladys (Corky) who became her primary caregiver. Mom had many talents, she was known for her baking especially her doughnuts. She loved to knit and crochet and always had many on-going projects. Her family and friends all reaped the benefits of her handmade gifts. One of Mom's greatest joys was spending her summers at Chesley's Resort in Petersfield, MB where each year she donated many pairs of mittens for the draws held at the annual fish fry. In compliance with Mom's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Riverview Palliative Care and St. Boniface Hospital Emergency doctors and nurses for their care and support of Mom during her illness, Pastor Stan Richards for the calls, prayers and giving Mom her final communion; the many people who visited Mom during her illness especially Jackie and Steve (many thanks for the cookies). If family and friends so desire, donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Rescue Shelter, Attention Carla Martinelli, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K OY1 or a charity of one's choice. Of all the precious gifts in life however large or small To have had you as our Granny was the greatest gift of all. Love Kandyce and Kelly Elsie's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
