YVETTE LEA BLANCHETTE (nee DELORME) February 20, 1933 April 6, 2006 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Yvette Blanchette, aged 73 of Winnipeg, on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, following a long and courageous battle. Yvette leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Hubert, of 54 years; daughters, Giselle (Gunther), Louise and Diane; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mathilda Delorme; sisters, Aline Morwick, Liliane Brownson; brother Marcel; and granddaughter Melanie Sinnock. Born in Letellier, MB, Yvette was the youngest of four children. As a young woman, she came to Winnipeg to work as a nurse's aide and enjoyed looking after newborn babies at the St. Boniface Hospital. During this time, she met her future husband Hubert. They were married in Letellier, MB and thereafter, she remained a devoted homemaker, raising three daughters in Windsor Park. She also played an active role in helping raise her grandchildren. Yvette loved being a grandmother and she was always the best listener. They grew up calling her Meme and they fondly remember her breakfasts by candlelight. Into the wee hours, on so many nights, she would stay up to sew clothes or crochet afghans for all her kids as well as mending for other family members. Yvette was a woman with an incredible heart who really put herself out there to help her family. One of her greatest gifts was wisdom and encouragement, especially during times of doubt and worry. Thank you mom and Meme for all the unconditional love and support you gave each and every one of us from day one. We will forever celebrate your loving spirit. In keeping with Yvette's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the many nurses, support staff and physicians on 5E, MICU, Home Care, Peritoneal and Hemodialysis Units at the St. Boniface General Hospital for providing exceptional care, compassion, comfort and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvette's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away, you suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, your spirit did not bend, but still you kept on fighting, until the very end. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around you and whispered, come to Me. So when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful, free from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer that again. You didn't deserve what you went through so He took you home to rest, God's garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. Yvette's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
