ROBERT GERALD CONKLIN March 10, 1938 - April 1, 2006 On April 1, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre, Robert Conklin (Bob), aged 68, beloved husband of Joan Conklin, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob is sadly missed by his wife Joan (married 47 years); children, Kim, Brent, Cheryl (Wade) and Kelly (Grant); grandchildren, Terry, Bradley, Taylor, Madison, Kelsey, Hannah and Nicholas; and his niece Cheri-Lynn and nephew Alex. Bob was born in Fort Frances, ON and raised in Winnipeg. He attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1963 as a Chartered Accountant. Bob spent the majority of his career working as a Provincial Auditor, which tied in closely to his passion for politics. Bob is remembered by his family and friends as a private person. However his passion for education and politics inspired many to follow their own political ideologies and life goals. Bob volunteered in the community for several years, as the Treasurer for Winakwa Community Club. He supported education and sports for his children and grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Beth Conklin and his brother Don Conklin. Bob was very grateful to the care providers at CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre (Purple Team) for their compassion and exemplary care. He specifically wanted to thank Dr. Wong and Kathy (CancerCare, St. Boniface Hospital), Dr. Deans, Dr. Crawford, Dana and Christina (staff at Riverview Health Centre) and the Palliative Home Care Team. Private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc. or to Riverview Health Centre Unit E3.
