Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATIE SPENCER (nee PITCHER) September 23, 1919 - April 6, 2006 Katie Spencer joined her forever sweetheart and husband, Mark and two sons, Craig and Bruce when she peacefully passed away in her sleep April 6, 2006 at home in Calgary, AB. Katie was born to Walter and Nellie Hinman Pitcher in Cardston, AB 1919. She married Mark Leslie Spencer in the Cardston Temple on December 26, 1939 and they were together on earth for 56 years. Her legacy is her family and she is survived by her children, Carmen (Rod) Atack, Randy (Peggy), George (Linda), Janine (Sherman) Packer, and Gary (Laura); a daughter-in-law Jackie Spencer and a sister Ruth Leavitt. She also has left 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was dedicated to standards of excellence and her sphere of influence was great in teaching school, serving in the LDS church and in celebrating her family. She was a courageous example as she saw good in both blessings and trials, and she faced her challenges with a determination that would make her pioneer ancestors proud. She will be greatly missed and reverently remembered by many. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Parkland Chapel, 14540 Parkland Blvd. SE, Calgary on Wednesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. with Bishop Dick Low officiating. Graveside services and interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery, Winnipeg on Thursday, April 13 at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow Thursday evening at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 Academy Road, Winnipeg from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Arrangements are in care of PIERSON'S FUNERAL SERVICE, Calgary. 403-235-3602.
