MARY DORIS GUNN December 19, 1919 - April 7, 2006 Our beloved Mary Dee (Doris) passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Edith Gunn, and her brothers, Dewart and Larry. Mary Dee will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sister, Lucille Ogle of Portland, Oregon, her devoted nieces and nephews (Kathy Manville, Gigi Selberg, Tom Ogle, Peter Ogle, Liz Ogle, Pamela Waters, Christopher Gunn, Jonathan Gunn and Paula Gunn) and their children. Mary Dee will also be missed by a multitude of friends. Born in Eden, MB, Mary Dee was the second of four children. As a young woman, she took her nursing training at Winnipeg General Hospital and was a graduate of the class of '43. Mary Dee was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years and her classmates became lifelong friends. Mary Dee's love of learning took her to Montreal for further studies at McGill University and her adventurous spirit led to many travels, including a solo trip to Europe in 1960, and white water rafting after her retirement in 1986. Mary Dee also made annual trips to the West Coast to visit her dear sister and brother and families and to walk the beaches of the Oregon Coast. But her heart always remained in her beloved Manitoba. Mary Dee contributed so much to the lives of her family and friends and touched the hearts of everyone she met. She will always be remembered for her deep faith and tremendous spirit of generosity, warmth and zest for life. Goodbye Dee Dee. We love you! A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Avenue at Harrow Street. In lieu of flowers, Mary Dee requested that donations be made to the Stephen Lewis Foundation (260 Spadina Ave. Ste 501 Toronto, ON M5T 2E4) or the Harrow United Memorial Fund.
