JOYCE MARIE ABIGOSIS (GINNY) It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, step-sister and friend Joyce Marie Abigosis (Ginny) on April 7, 2006, at the age of 65 years. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, father Alex Deaffie (1964) and mother Elizabeth Sumner; stepmother Janet Deaffie (2005); sons, Louie Albert Abigosis and Charlie Ross; brother Hector Sumner; sisters, Hilma Simard and Mary Jane Sumner; daughter Salena Ann (1962) and special grandson Joey Sinclair (1995). Joyce leaves to mourn her passing daughters, Sophie (Vernon) Traverse, Violet Abigosis, and Gloria Abigosis (nee Jody Mihychuck); sons, Walter Abigosis (nee Darin Olson) and Hughie Abigosis; stepbrother Reginald Traverse; brothers, Clifford Deaffie and Willard (Doris) Deaffie; sisters, Betty (Chris) Sumner, Lena (William) Franklin, and Selena Sumner; nine grandchildren, two of whom Joyce was close to, Sherri and Samantha Traverse. Joyce raised one of her nephews as her own son, Matthew Deaffie, and also had two special grandsons, Anthony Thompson, Clarence Cochrane, and one special grandson Seth Tuesday, who adopted Joyce as his Granny Ginny. Joyce had a very close friend, Horace Bighetty whom she always called my true love', and Mary Shorting Sinclair whom she dearly loved and took her as her mother. She really enjoyed the stories they shared and all the time they spent together; also Irma Sanderson and Mary Jane Sinclair, whom she loved as sisters; nieces, nephews and cousins that are too numerous to mention; many, many more friends of Little Saskatchewan. Joyce was a very caring individual who always made a big thing out of helping out in community gatherings and feasts, cooking and donating whatever she had to make the event a success. She was very outspoken and loving to everyone and also had a good sense of humour. Joyce enjoyed laughing and would often laugh at herself for the humourous things she did or said. She accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour in the early 1990s and was faithful in contributing to her church with donations of money and her endless hours of labour in cooking and preparing for tent meetings for the guests coming into the community. Joyce was always willing to visit those who were sick or in need. She will be missed dearly, by all who knew her in the community as well as other communities, as she had a special place in our hearts. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Chief Hector Shorting and council of Little Saskatchewan First Nation, and to a special person she took as her own daughter, Rose Shorting, whom she loved very much; also the staff at the Fisher River Care Home; doctors and staff at the Percy E. Moore Hospital, special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on the 5th floor of the St. Boniface Hospital who took care of Joyce during the last moments of her life before passing on to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church, Little Saskatchewan, MB with her Pastor John McLean and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Saskatchewan Cemetery. Arrangements Entrusted to: ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Ashern, MB 1-204-768-3606
